Summer signing Diogo Dalot has hinted that he could be set to make his Manchester United debut against Watford this weekend. The 19-year-old right-back has had to wait patiently for his chance after joining United from FC Porto in June because of an injury he sustained at the end of last season.
Dalot travelled to the USA on the Red Devils’ pre-season trip and saw some action for the Under-23 side ten days ago, but is still to play a first-team match for the club.
However, manager Jose Mourinho watched Dalot perform well for 79 minutes against Stoke City’s Under-23 side and the injury to Luke Shaw while on England duty could have opened a spot for the young Portuguese player in the squad for the trip to Vicarage Road.
Shaw sustained concussion and is likely to miss at lest one match which means Ashley Young could replace him at left-back on Saturday.
But Dalot seems ready to sit on the bench and has hinted he is ready to feature in the Premier League match if called upon.
“Have a good week everybody,” he tweeted. “Getting ready for Saturday.”
