President Aurelio De Laurentiis has said that Napoli won’t be making any January signings but will bring in a “big name” next summer. The Partenopei currently sit in second place in Italy’s Serie A and it was believed that they could try and bolster their ranks in the winter window in an effort to challenge Juventus for the title.
The unbeaten reigning champions are currently six points clear of Carlo Ancelotti’s side in top spot having won 11 of their 12 matches and will take some chasing down even at this stage of the season.
However, De Laurentiis spoke out to dismiss the possibility of the club doing any deals after they were heavily linked with a move to take former striker Edinson Cavani back to the Stadio San Paolo from Paris Saint-Germain.
He said: “We won’t buy anyone in January. “In June though we’ll make a big name signing. “Cavani? If he gets tired of Paris and decides to earn less we’ll welcome him with open arms…”
