Crystal Palace defender Patrick Van Aanholt has apologised to the Eagles fans for his mistake in the defeat to Chelsea. The former Newcastle and Sunderland player is one of the top defenders in the Premier League going forward, but defensively he is prone to the odd lapse.
Van Aanholt, who was caught sleeping in the build up to Chelsea’s third goal, letting Pedro ghost in to end the game as a contest, and he has tweeted his apologies to the fans.
He said: “Apologies for the 3rd goal, simply put not good enough but we fought a good battle and the Palace fans were top top top. “As long as we continue to work hard for each other all will be well.”
