Defour Progressing Well – Dyche

Sean Dyche says Steven Defour is “making very good progress” after calf surgery but will not be fit until next season at the earliest. The midfielder has made just six Premier League starts since January 2018 due to several serious injuries and he’s been ruled out for the rest of the current season after he underwent calf surgery in March.

Dyche says the Belgium international is recovering well with the club hopeful he will finally be fully fit come August. “He’s not going to be right for this season, but he’s making very good progress,” Dyche said on the club’s website. “He’s in a good place with it all. He’s had a lot to take on this season and I think, overall, he has handled it well.

“It’s not easy. He had a fantastic season last season until he got injured and then it’s been a work in progress this season to try and get everything back in order. But he’s in good spirits.” Defour joined the Clarets from Anderlecht in summer 2016 and has made 58 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals.
