Moussa Dembele says it was impossible to turn down Lyon when they came knocking on Celtic’s door in the summer. The former Celtic star left Parkhead on deadline day in a £19.7m move to return to his native France and join up with Lyon, calling time on a successful spell with the Scottish Champions.
The France under-21 star has admitted that it was difficult to turn down the chance to join Bruno Genesio’s side after the current squad of players bombarded him with calls and messages about joining them.
Dembele told Lyon’s website: “Before signing, I received a lot of messages and calls from the club’s players – they made me come. Lyon is a historic club.
“There were some very great players, especially attackers. I’m proud to represent this club.”
