New Borussia Dortmund man Abdou Diallo admits boss Lucien Favre convinced him to sign for the club. After having a hugely impressive season for Mainz last year, in his first-ever Bundesliga season, Diallo was rumoured to be on the wish-list of several big European clubs, including Arsenal, as Unai Emery seeked to strengthen his defence.
However, he chose to pen a five-year deal with Dortmund having spoken with boss Lucien Favre over the summer.
And the 22-year-old confirmed that Favre played a big part in helping to bring the defender to the Westfalenstadion.
“He knew quite a lot about me,” explained the former Monaco man, who will be with the France Under-21 squad during the international break.
“When he met me, he spoke to me as if I were already his player, I liked that. We talked tactics, technique, my season, his season, a lot of things.
“It was all very natural. Our first meeting went well.”
