Diangana Eager To Learn From Rice

West Ham youngster Grady Diangana says he has been inspired by Declan Rice’s recent surge through the ranks.

The 20-year-old has made his own breakthrough this season, making 14 Premier League appearances under Manuel Pellegrini.

Diangana made a name for himself in September, scoring two goals on his debut in the 8-0 EFL Cup success over Macclesfield.

In total he has made 18 appearances under Pellegrini and he admits that Rice’s rise has inspired him to improve his game. He told the London Evening Standard: “Seeing [Declan] gives me a lot of inspiration.

I believe I can get to where he has got to and what he has achieved, making over 50 appearances for the first team. “But it is not just what I see on the pitch, off the pitch he is excellent. Everything he does is excellent.

Whether that is warming up, whether that is in training, everything he does is excellent. Just the way he carries himself. “I have realised this season you have to be excellent every single day. There is no way you can switch off and not take it seriously. You have to be high quality every day.”
