Dib Steps Up To Replace Goyat

Australian Billy Dib has stepped in to face Amir Khan next month after original opponent Neeraj Goyat was injured in a car crash. Reports claim Khan was set to earn £7million from his bout with Goyat in Saudi Arabia on July 12 but his Indian opponent pulled out on Wednesday.

Goyat is understood to have suffered “severe injuries to his head, face and arm” after being involved in a car crash. It was feared that Khan may not be able to return to the ring as quickly as he had hoped after his loss to Terence Crawford on April 20, however, Dib has stepped up to the plate.

“In life you get a limited number of opportunities to do something monumental, and like the greatest in any industry will tell you, when an opportunity comes knocking you answer,” Dib said. “This is my real-life Rocky moment.”
