Inter Milan’s Stefan de Vrij says his partnership with Milan Skriniar is benefitting from their relationship away from the field. The Dutchman joined the Nerazzurri in the summer on a free transfer from Lazio but had to bide his time early on, with Miranda often preferred in central defence.
However, he has gained more exposure in recent weeks and has looked particularly sharp alongside Skriniar, with the pair starting the last three games together.
The Slovakian was linked with Premier League clubs in the summer but chose to stay in Italy and has continued to excel.
De Vrij believes the pair complement each other, adding that their burgeoning friendship away from the field is helping them build an understanding.
“Yes it’s true, we are very similar as a character,” he said. “I feel good with him also outside the field as well as in the field, he is a very strong defender and it’s always nice to play with him.”
