Julian Draxler claims he is happy at Paris Saint-Germain and has denied holding talks with Bayern Munich about a summer move. The 24-year-old Germany international has scored 15 goals in 75 appearances for the reigning French Ligue 1 champions since he joined from Wolfsburg in January 2017, but he only started 19 of his 30 top-flight appearances last term.
It resulted in speculation that Draxler could be set for a return to the German Bundesliga during the transfer window with Bayern Munich believed to be leading the chase for his signature.
However, despite suggestions he held negotiations about a switch to the Allianz Arena, Draxler has spoken out to confirm that he is happy to stay put at the Parc des Princes.
“Bayern are by far the most successful club in Germany. Everything else is speculation,” he told Sport1. “I’ve never had contact with an official from Bayern.”
Draxler, who also helped PSG win the Coupe de la Ligue and Coupe de France last term, added: “I saw no reason to flee.
“Competition is high, especially in my position, with [Kylian] Mbappe and Neymar playing there, currently the two best players in the world – or at least the ones that I think will be in the future.
“The signs haven’t changed. I played 47, 48 games last season and am convinced I will play them this season as well. I like the club and the city. I feel comfortable there, and that’s why there was no reason for me to look for an opportunity [to leave].”
