Dyche Hails “Fantastic” Season

Burnley boss Sean Dyche says it has been a “fantastic” season after Premier League survival was guaranteed at the weekend.

The Clarets were effectively secure after their 2-2 draw at Chelsea on Easter Monday as they went nine points clear of relegation with three games left to play.

However, survival was mathematically guaranteed on Saturday as Neil Warnock’s Cardiff went down to a 1-0 defeat to relegated Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Despite not being anywhere near the success of last season, when they qualified for the Europa League after finishing seventh, Dyche insists it has been a great season for the Clarets, who can now prepare for a fourth consecutive term in the top flight. “I mentioned the other day that people will deem it almost like a poor season, in a way,” he told the club website. “It’s been a fantastic season for us.

This is Burnley. This is more the norm. This is not a walk in the park. “Every season; finance, structure – trying to keep players here, get new quality in. All of that goes into it. “Every year is tough and to come through it in the second half of the season – look at our points tally, our goal tally, our performance level – is first class and I’m delighted with what the staff and the players have done.”
