Dyche Wants To See Winger Back In Training

Burnley boss Sean Dyche is keeping his fingers crossed that winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson will be back fit against soon. The Clarets boss has warned the Icelandic star that he needs to return to full training before he is considered for the first team again.

In his absence Jeff Hendrick and Aaron Lennon have been filling in but Burnley fans will be keen to see the winger back in the side soon. Dyche wants him back as well but not until he has seen him in full training for a week so he can prove he is fit to play.

He told LancsLive “Is he fit? Yes and no, yes physically as in fit but no in the sense that he’s had three or four weeks without training time. “I spoke to him and reassured him that we believe in what he’s doing this season. “He’s come back really fit with his eyes in but he needs a full weeks training now. “He needs to get back to training every day and making sure his body is right.”

Meanwhile, the Clarets have been doing well in his absence with a 2-0 win over Norwich inspired by a brace from Chris Wood.

The 27-year-old scored nine times in the pre-season, including a hat-trick in the win over French side Nice, but he failed to score in the opening five games of the season.

Despite receiving praise for his hard work in the previous games and the part he played in the side’s other goals this season it is always nice to finally get off the mark and Dyche was pleased to see him do just that.
He said: “I’m pleased for Woody because he stuck at it and he gets two good goals, two really good goals.”
