Edmund And Djokovic Crash Out

British number one Kyle Edmund and Novak Djokovic have crashed out of the Miami Open at the fourth round stage. Edmund accused the umpire of losing control after he lost to American John Isner 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (7-3). He was upset with shouts from the crowd during the match, and took out his anger on the umpire, Brazilian Carlos Bernardes.

The flash point came in the crucial second set tie-break with Isner serving when 5-3 up. There was a shout of “out” from the crowd and play was halted two shots later. Isner served an ace on the next point to wrap up the win and Edmund was far from happy.

“It is the public… you cannot stop like this, it is the person from the crowd,” Bernardes told the Englishman. Edmund replied: “I didn’t stop”, adding: “You have no control… they keep shouting at every point… unbelievable.”

Isner will now go on to face Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut in the next round, after he pulled off a surprise victory over world number one Djokovic. The Serb, who went out in the third round of Indian Wells last week, was beaten 1-6 7-5 6-3 by the Spaniard.
