The Gunners appeared to be coasting after Stephan Lichtsteiner’s first goal for the club was added to by Emile Smith Rowe.
But Blackpool rallied and, after Matteo Guendouzi had been sent off for two fouls on Jordan Thompson, Paudie O’Connor reduced the arrears before also being dismissed as Arsenal secured a narrow victory.
Emery made nine changes but there was room for Ramsey, who played the full 90 minutes as doubts continue to surround his future. “For me, he worked very well,” Emery told Sky Sports. “I spoke with him last week and I want his focus with us. I am very happy with his performance, with his work and on the whole he helped us.”
When asked about Ramsey’s contract situation again, the Spaniard refused to say too much: “For me it’s on the pitch. Each training, each match like today.”
