Emery Set To Shake-Up Coaching Team

Arsenal manager Unai Emery is reportedly set to promote Freddie Ljungberg to the club’s first-team coaching staff. Emery is expected to have a major overhaul of the Gunners’ backroom structure this summer and his first piece of business looks like it will involve former Sweden international Ljungberg.

The 42-year-old has been working as a coach for Arsenal’s Under 23’s after returning to north London a year ago following a season as a member of Andries Jonker’s coaching staff at Wolfsburg. Ljungberg, who played for the club from 1998-2007, is now being tipped to swap roles with assistant head coach Steve Bould, who will take over responsibility of the U23’s.

The ex-midfielder will advise Emery on the club’s young talent and the best course of action for certain players, whether that be promoting them to the senior ranks or sending them out on loan. Ljungberg is set to be the first of several changes to the Gunners’ coaching set-up this summer.
