Jonny Evans says he is ready to establish himself at Leicester after struggling with injury during his opening months at the club. The Northern Irishman joined the Foxes over the summer from West
Brom but has had to bide his time, having failed to gain regular minutes towards the end of last term.
An unspecified injury plagued him in pre-season but after starting in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Huddersfield due to the suspension of Wes Morgan, Evans will be hoping he has done enough to keep his spot.
Claude Puel’s side face Wolves in the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening and the 30-year-old is keen to make the most of his chances after working his way back to fitness.
“At the end of last season I didn’t play a lot of football and I did a pre-season and felt I was getting up to speed and the injury really knocked me back,” Evans said. “It set me back by two or three weeks.
“I just need games really. It’s important to build up different partnerships and help each other on the pitch but I’m really enjoying it.”
