Everton have emerged as surprise contenders in the race to sign Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey and appear ready to break the bank.
Ramsey appears to be heading for the exit door at the Emirates Stadium after the Gunners pulled the plug on talks over a new deal for the Wales international.
The 27-year-old will be available on a free transfer and there is no shortage of clubs throughout Europe showing an interest in him with a view to a swoop.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United could all offer him the chance to stay in the Premier League, while Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus could offer a fresh challenge in Serie A.
However, Everton have no emerged as surprise contenders and could have the resources in place to tempt him to Goodison Park.
Everton director of football Marcel Brands is reported to be putting a package together that will include a £15million signing on fee and wages of £150,000 a week over a five-year deal.
Champions League football and prospects of winning silverware are likely to be top of Ramsey’s wanted list ahead of money, but the deal on offer with the Toffees could be tempting nevertheless.
