Evra’s Eyes On United Could Be For Zidane

Patrice Evra’s presence next to United vice-chairman for a third game running at Chelsea could spark more Zinedine Zidane rumours. Evra has been linked to a position in a new-look Red Devils’ backroom staff if ex-Real Madrid coach Zidane replaces under-pressure Jose Mourinho.

The Frenchman, whose six-year stint as a United player ended when he joined Juventus in 2014, remains popular with Old Trafford fans and boardroom members – particularly the ex-manager who signed him, Sir Alex Ferguson.

Zidane is widely thought to be the first choice of the Reds board to take over as patience with Mourinho wears thin.
Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge saw United slip to ninth in the Premier League, nine points off the lead but seven behind the team in fourth – the minimum requirement to finish this season.

Zidane was in London in late September – the same month that Evra began training with West Ham and was first spotted sat next to vice-chairman Ed Woodward at the defeat to the Hammers.

The three-time Champions League-winning coach has been taking a break from football since leading Real to victory over Liverpool in Kiev last May.
