Ewan Named In Lotto Team

Australian Caleb Ewan will make his Tour de France debut and is targeting the yellow jersey after being named in the Lotto Soudal team. The 24-year-old sprinter will not be a contender for the general classification, but will be hoping to pick up a few stage wins along the way, including the opening stage in Brussels on July 6.

It is one for the sprinters and an opportunity to wear yellow on stage two, something Ewan is hoping to achieve. “It’s going to be a dream come true for me,” said Ewan. “I’m excited about the first stage being a sprint because it’s an opportunity for us sprinters to take the yellow jersey.

It’s going to be so exciting to be in a Belgian team starting the Tour de France in Belgium.” The Australian won two stages for Lotto at the Giro d’Italia this year before pulling out of the race as it headed for the mountains, in order to prepare for the Tour.

Ewan’s lead-out men in Italy, Belgian Jasper de Buyst and German Roger Kluge, are also included in the team along with Thomas De Gendt, and four more Belgians Tiesj Benoot, Tim Wellens, Jens Keukeleire and Maxime Monfort.
