Daniel Farke is confident his Norwich players will be able to adapt quickly to life in the Premier League after their promotion. The Canaries won the Championship with 94 points last season and adopted a free slowing, attacking approach – scoring 93 goals but conceding 57 times in 46 games.
Norwich face a tough start to the season at Liverpool on Friday night and they also come up against Chelsea and champions Manchester City in their first five games. Farke is well aware his squad will face far tougher challenges in the top flight and they will have to focus more on the defensive side of the game, and he is convinced his players can improve further and will be able to make the transition.
“We know these players are capable of improving,” he told the Pink Un. “We wanted a tough series of pre-season games so the players can feel what it is like to play a club like Schalke 04 or Bergamo [Atalanta]. You have to realise you must be better on the small details than we were last season.

“The tactical approach must change. Last season they could play with unbelievable attacking intent 95% of the time, now they might have to defend more and change their positioning. “We have worked a lot on that in recent weeks. Against Schalke 04 I remember a period in the first half when they were on top and we switched our formation to three at the back, wing backs more than full backs and it is important then Max [Aarons], Jamal [Lewis], Philip [Heise] or Sam [Byram] get used to different roles.”
He added: “We know there are challenges in the Premier League. We sat down in the summer and thought about that a lot. “Let’s see if we have found the right answers. I think we are prepared for what awaits us but let’s see on the pitch.”11 BUSINESS NUGGETS FROM SUPER EAGLES BRONZE MEDAL TRIUMPH. The content of this ebook will propel you above your competition.
