Fiorentina Confirm Corvino Exit

Fiorentina technical director Pantaleo Corvino has left the club by mutual consent, the Serie A outfit has confirmed. Following Rocco Commisso’s recent takeover of La Viola, it has been announced Corvino has left the role he has held since summer 2016.

“Fiorentina announce, together with technical director Pantaleo Corvino, that it was mutually decided to end their relationship,” read a club statement. “A new path has started with new owners, and it was therefore considered right to put an end to the previous technical management.

“Corvino, during his time with the Viola, contributed with his work to help the team reach some very prestigious objectives and, under his management, also gave new life to the club’s youth sector, allowing them to win several national titles. “Fiorentina would like to thank Pantaleo Corvino for all he has given to the Viola and wish him all the best for the rest of his professional and personal life.”

Reports in Italy say former Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli has been identified as the man to replace Corvino, while Ricky Massara and Pierpaolo Marino have also been linked with the post. Fiorentina finished 16th in Serie A last season, just three points clear of the relegation zone, and will hope the new era under Commisso begins with an improved campaign in 2019-20.
