Firmino Fit For Reds

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Roberto Firmino is fit to start Saturday’s Champions League final. The Brazilian has been battling a groin issue picked up ahead of the 5-0 win over Huddersfield, forcing him out of the last four games.

However, after training with the squad last week in Marbella, Firmino has been passed fit for Saturday’s showdown against Spurs in Madrid. Jurgen Klopp confirmed the news to reporters, adding that the 27-year-old will start the game barring any unforeseen setbacks.

“Yes, he’s ready. If he will start… if Poch afterwards says his exact line-up then call me and I will tell you our line-up as well. If not, then I thought I’d keep at least a few question marks open,” the boss said during his pre-match press conference.

“He’s fit, he’s trained, he’s here and if nothing happened from the moment he left the plane until now – I didn’t see him since then – he’ll be fine.” A change in UEFA regulations mean Klopp can select up to 12 substitutes for the game but one of them will not be Naby Keita. The Guinea midfielder suffered an abductor injury in the semi-final first-leg against Barcelona and is the only absentee.
