Tommy Fleetwood believes he can still win the Race to Dubai title after an encouraging start to the DP World Tour Championship. The Englishman is the only player who can catch Italian Francesco Molinari in the standings but he needs to win the event his week.
And he’s made a great start as he did not drop a shot on his way to a three-under 69 on Thursday at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
Tommy Fleetwood will start Friday’s round three behind leaders Jordan Smith and Adrian Otaegui and he is confident he can still lift the trophy. “Sometimes those are the rounds that maybe win you golf tournaments at the end of the week,” Fleetwood told Sky Sports. “That’s kind of what I’ve been lacking a little bit throughout the year. “You come into this week still with a chance of the Race to Dubai, one round down and we still have a chance.

As long as our head’s above water for that, we’ll be happy and keep going. “I’m just focusing purely on this tournament and today, three under was a good score. You can play great and not shoot three under, so having struggled on the back nine and done it, that’s really good.”
