Forest Keen To Keep Colback

Nottingham Forest will reportedly try to sign Jack Colback on a permanent deal from Newcastle this summer after impressing on loan.

The 29-year-old has spent the last 18 months on loan at the City Ground after being informed by Magpies boss Rafael Benitez he does not feature in his plans at St James’ Park.

That situation could change if Benitez leaves Newcastle when his contract expires this summer although Forest are hopeful of persuading the north-east outfit to part ways with Colback either way.

The former Sunderland midfielder has just over a year left on his contract with Newcastle and Forest boss Martin O’Neill is keen for him to remain in Nottingham, with Colback having become a dependable member of his squad, making 38 appearances in the Championship.

Forest made a failed move to sign Colback last summer but will expect to have better luck this time around for a player who has not made an appearance for Newcastle since May 2017.
