Leicester Clear Out Continues As Clubs Keen On Diabate And Ghezzal

Dijon are reportedly in talks with Leicester over Fousseni Diabate while Olympiakos are showing interest in Rachid Ghezzal as the Foxes’ clearout continues.

Ligue 1 outfit Dijon are understood to be keen on a loan deal for Diabate, who is not in Brendan Rodgers’ plans and was almost sold in January.

According to Le10Sport, the former Ligue 2 striker is being targeted by Les Moutardes – who want a loan deal with an option to buy him permanently next summer.

The 23-year-old is one of a handful of players Leicester are looking to offload before the September 2 transfer deadline in most other European countries,

Diabate and Rachid Ghezzal are the last two players on the unwanted list after Adrien Silva and Islam Slimani joined Monaco last week.

Signed from Gazelec Ajaccio in January 2018, Diabate made 14 Premier League appearances under former manager Claude Puel that season, five as a starter.

He made a good early impression on Leicester fans when he scored a brace in the 5-1 FA Cup fourth round demolition of Peterborough United.

But his chances dried up in the next season and he was sent out on loan to Turkish top-flight club Sivasspor just before Puel was sacked and replaced by Rodgers.

There, he scored two goals in 17 appearances and returned this summer without having made enough progress to force his way into the Foxes strikeforce.

Dijon are looking to strengthen their forward options after selling Wesley Said to Toulouse for 8m euros.
They currently sit bottom of Ligue 1 and have scored just one goal from their opening three matches so help is certainly required.

Elsewhere, Olympiakos are on the trail of Algerian winger Ghezzal – according to reports in Greece.

to10gr claim the 27-year-old, who cost £12 from Monaco in August 2018, is a target of the Pireus giants – but they also fancy Monaco’s out-of-favour Brazilian Gabriel Boschilia.

Ghezzal was not as much of a flop as Diabate in his single season at the club, scoring three goals in 23 appearances – although he didn’t provide a single Premier League assist.
