Aleksandar Mitrovic believes Fulham are in need of this international break in order to recuperate. Several of the Cottagers’ first-team players will be away with their respective countries but the break from domestic football will provide some squad members with a chance to relax.
Fulham have made a decent start to life back in the Premier League and the team are unbeaten from their last two league matches, beating Burnley 4-2 before drawing 2-2 with Brighton.
Slavisa Jokanovic’s men gave up a 2-0 lead at the AMEX Stadium on Saturday and the frantic start to the new campaign, along with the late finish to the last term due to the club’s involvement in the Championship playoffs, could be having an impact.
Serbia international Mitrovic, who is the joint top goalscorer in the league with four alongside Liverpool’s AMEX Stadium believes the break from domestic action will be of huge benefit.
“We need a bit of a rest. It has been a tough few weeks,” he said. “The international break is a good time for some players to get a rest. We will come back and be prepared. It is a long season. It is not a sprint, it is a marathon.”
