Fulham target focused on Celtic

Dedryck Boyata, a summer target for Fulham, insists he is fully focused at Celtic after putting his transfer frustration behind him.

The Belgian defender was the subject of a reported £9million bid from the Whites after impressing at the World Cup but Celtic dug their heels in and refused to let him go.

That led to an unsavoury rift between the player and the club, with Boyata then refusing to make himself available for a key Champions League qualifier against AEK Athens.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers smoothed over the issue after talks and brought him back into the fold, but Boyata is in the final year of his contract and looks likely to move on in the near future.

“Right now I’m in a position where I’m not supposed to say anything about what happened in the past,” said Boyata.

“But I am fully committed with the team and I’m trying to give as much as I can whenever I’m on the pitch.

“I’m a Celtic player and I’m very happy to be a Celtic player. Whatever happens next, happens next.”
