Gasly Staying For 2019 – Marko

Red Bull chief Dr Helmut Marko says Pierre Gasly will not be replaced during the 2019 Formula 1 season. After spending two years with Toro Rosso, Frenchman Gasly was promoted to Red Bull for the 2019 campaign, completing the driver line-up alongside talented Dutchman Max Verstappen.

The 23-year-old sits sixth in the Drivers’ Championship, having recorded eight points-scoring finishes, but he is yet to get on the podium and his performance in Sunday’s German Grand Prix left a lot to be desired.

Having started the Hockenheim race fourth on the grid, the Rouen-born star lost several places in the early exchanges before being forced to retire late on after crashing into Toro Rosso’s Alexander Albon, who finished sixth.

Daniil Kvyat managed to clinch third in the second Toro Rosso and there have been several reports claiming Red Bull are deliberating replacing Gasly with either driver from their sister team.

However, clearing up the situation on the under-pressure Frenchman, Marko told Motorsport.com: “This year we will not change anything. We will finish the season with the same line-ups that we have now.”
