Genoa have reportedly asked Newcastle for a contribution towards Achraf Lazaar’s wages before completing a loan deal. The 26-year-old has been unable to force his way into the first team picture at St James’ Park since joining from Palermo in August 2016.
Newcastle sent him back to Italy on loan with Benevento for the 2017-18 season and it looks like he could be heading back to Serie A again this term.
Genoa have been working on a deal with the Premier League club over the last few days, however, it appears to have hit a stumbling block.
The Italian outfit aren’t prepared to cover the full cost of Lazaar’s salary and have reportedly asked Newcastle to pay half.
