Gibson Looking To Break Into Side

Burnley’s forgotten man Ben Gibson says he intends to make his mark at the club in the final dozen games of the campaign after an injury-plagued season.

The former Middlesbrough defender was snapped up by the Clarets in the summer for a club-record £15m but, due to two hernia operations, he has been restricted to just five appearances.

Gibson is now back fit but has had to be content with a place on the bench since the turnaround in form and is looking to show what he can do in the last quarter of the campaign.

“The injuries are behind me now. I feel really fit, strong, and raring to go,” Gibson told the Lancashire Telegraph. “Injuries are part and parcel of the game, but touch wood I’ve been lucky in that respect in the past.

Just unfortunate on this occasion. “But there’s nothing you can do about it except to get yourself fit again as quick as you can, and that’s what I’ve done.

“Now I’m fit and ready to go, and ready to make my mark for the team. “Lately we’ve had some really good performances and results and we want to build on that. “For me, I’m as fit as I can be, and if I get given an opportunity I need to take it.”
