Back-rowers Callum Gibbins and Ryan Wilson will co-captain Glasgow Warriors for the 2018/19 campaign. Scotland international Wilson, who has been with the Warriors his entire professional career, led Glasgow last term in Dave Rennie’s first season at the helm and the skipper did a good job.
The 29-year-old led the club to the PRO 14 Conference A title before being knocked out in the play-offs at the semi-final stage by the Scarlets, who were defeated by Munster in the final.
It has now been decided Wilson will be one of two co-captains for the upcoming season, with New Zealander Gibbins, who was one of Rennie’s first signings, being named as the other.
The flanker, also 29, led the team in Wilson’s absence last term and the head coach is confident the duo will form a successful partnership.
“They work really well together and we have a big squad of 50 players, which is a lot to manage,” Rennie was quoted as saying by BBC Sport. “They have complementary skills, are both very passionate about this club and are hugely respected by all.”
