Gudelj The Serbian Midfielder Still On Watford Radar

Watford are considering Guangzhou Evergrande midfielder Nemanja Gudelj as a potential summer replacement for Abdoulaye Doucoure. The Hornets were interested in the 27-year-old Serbian in the summer but he chose to go to Lisbon and join Sporting Club on loan for the season.
However, Watford have been keeping tabs on his form in Portugal and sent a scout to watch Gudelj in action as he starred in a 3-0 win at Feirense on Sunday.
The ex-Ajax and AZ midfielder is enjoying a good season, having started 15 of Sporting’s 21 league games to date.

Back in November he told ELF Football: “In China there is a rule stipulating that only a maximum of three foreigners can play. I felt out of the boat. “I could have gone to the Premier League, a great championship. The transfer to Watford was close, but I wanted to go to a top club where I had more certainty to play the European competitions. “I could have gone to the three biggest clubs in Turkey, also to Spain. But I was not so enthusiastic about it, the Spanish League and the English League do not suit me.” Gudelj looks like an ideal candidate to replace Doucoure, who has spoken openly about leaving Watford in search of Champions League football elsewhere.
