Haas Not Hurrying 2020 Line-Up

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner says talks have not yet started about the driver line-up for next season. The American team have hugely disappointed in 2019 so far, despite proclamations they had the fourth quickest car on the grid at the start of the season, and they currently sit eighth in the Constructors’ Championship.

Between Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen, there have only been four points-scoring races this season, with Magnussen getting the best result of sixth in Australia. The car has struggled for grip and in the immediate aftermath of the Canadian Grand Prix last week Steiner said things “cannot get any worse”.

However, he refused to necessarily pin the blame on the drivers and says they will not discuss the futures of the duo until after the summer break in August. “As we did last year, I said to Gene [Haas], ‘I don’t want to speak about drivers before the summer break’,” Steiner told GPToday. “I want what he said – to get the missed opportunities right.”
