Hamilton Not Expecting Title In Mexico

Mercedes racer Lewis Hamilton admits he doesn’t think the world title will be won at the Mexican Grand Prix next weekend. Hamilton is on course to win his sixth World Championship to put him behind Michael Schumacher at the top of the all-time standings.

Only Valtteri Bottas can catch him with four races remaining in what has been another dominant year for the Silver Arrows. If Hamilton outscores his team-mate by 15 points, it will be enough to seal the title at the same track he has won his two previous crowns.

However, the 34-year-old expects the title battle to rumble on further due to the car’s unsuitability to the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit, along with the Finn’s determination to catch him.

“I think for me it’s never been a case of always wanting to rush things,” Hamilton said. “Valtteri’s driven well all year long, he’s done a great job [in Japan] and he will most likely do a very, very solid job these next races, so we still have a battle, the fight continues.

“I think Mexico is generally our worst race of the year because of the way our car is set up and it’s going to be a tough one for us. The last few have been pretty shocking, even though we’ve won the title there. “I don’t anticipate it will be Mexico. I think we will be battling for a good few races.”
