Hampshire’s Tom Alsop, Joe Weatherley and Brad Wheal have put pen to paper on new contracts. The trio were set to be out of contract at the end of the 2019 campaign but Hampshire announced they have signed “long-term” deals.
Alsop is a graduate of their academy and established himself as a regular in James Vince’s side last season. “It’s fantastic to get that security and know that my future is here at my home club for at least the next three years,” Alsop told the club’s official website.

“Winning a trophy and being part of a strong Championship side in 2018 was great and it’s been nice to play and be able to contribute with the bat and with the gloves.
Hopefully I can continue to contribute more and more on the pitch moving forward and build on this year heading into 2019.”
Weatherley also came through the ranks with the county and the 21-year-old claimed a spot at the top of the order in 2018.
Meanwhile, Wheal, who joined in 2015, took 26 wickets in 12 four-day appearances last term before his campaign was ended prematurely due to a back injury.
Wheal said: “It’s obviously been a frustrating year in 2018 but to be given this opportunity to continue working on my game here at Hampshire is great.
There’s a lot of competition between the bowlers heading into next season and it’s a good opportunity, having recovered from that injury, to try and force a way into the first team in 2019.”
