Havlin Won’t Contest Suspension

Robert Havlin has decided not to appeal the 13-day ban imposed by the Windsor stewards on Monday evening. Experienced jockey Havlin was deemed to have used his whip above the permitted level when riding Frontman to second place in the Class 5 Rita Ora Live At Windsor Racecourse Maiden Stakes.

The rider was debating whether to contest the suspension, but the Professional Jockeys’ Association confirmed on Friday morning the ban will stand after he decided not to lodge an appeal.

The PJA tweeted: “Having taken advice from (PJA chief executive) Paul Struthers and solicitor Rory Mac Neice of @Ashfords_Law Rab Havlin will not appeal against his 13-day suspension. “Whilst there were grounds to appeal against the severity of the suspension, Rob has decided to take it on the chin.”
