Henry Expected ‘Interesting’ World Cup

Graham Henry believes New Zealand can win the 2019 World Cup if they are able to play to the “peak of their powers”.

New Zealand landed a record third World Cup back in 2015 and they are seen as favourites to add a fourth trophy to their CV in Japan later this year. However, Henry believes the All Blacks are not looking as formidable ahead of the tournament as they have in recent years, which could make for an intriguing tournament.

The 72-year-old, who guided NZ to glory in 2011, believes Steve Hansen’s side have a great chance but need to be playing better than they are at the moment. “I think it’s going to be a really interesting Rugby World Cup,” Hansen told radio station Newstalk ZB.

“I think if the All Blacks play to the peak of their powers, they will do the business, but that’s the question – ‘can they get up there again and do the job?’ “My gut tells me, yes, but I think it’s going to be more competitive than last time.”
