Hernandez Sets European Goal

Real Sociedad’s Theo Hernandez says the squad believe they can finish in the European places this season.

La Real sit ninth in the table after a run of five games unbeaten, including a victory away at Real Madrid and win over local rivals Athletic Bilbao in the Basque derby.

The squad seem to have benefited from Imanol Alguacil’s appointment in December and Hernandez has been in particularly good form.

After struggling for game time last season at Real, he has thrived playing regularly since moving on loan to the Anoeta in August.

The 21-year-old says a European finish remains the goal for the squad, with eighth-placed Valencia next on the agenda on Saturday.

Hernandez told Marca: “I have already said many times that I am in a great club and that I am very happy with all my team-mates. I am very happy and happy here, but next year I will return to Real Madrid to give it my all.

“We have a great squad and we are showing that we want to be up there, we have to give everything for it, starting on Sunday against Valencia.”
