Higuain Keen For Chelsea Stay

Striker Gonzalo Higuain admits he would like to stay at Chelsea rather than return to Juventus at the end of the season. Despite scoring 40 Serie A goals in two seasons with the Old Lady, Higuain was loaned out to Milan for the 2018-19 season.

The former Argentina hitman bagged eight goals from 22 appearances in all competitions but was recalled by Juve in January before being sent to Stamford Bridge for the second half of the campaign. Three goals from 11 outings have followed for the west Londoners as the South American reunited with his former boss at Napoli, Maurizio Sarri.

It remains to be seen what happens in the summer but, after confessing that he is still getting to grips with English football, it appears as though the French-born forward wants to remain with the Blues. “Obviously it’s a period where I’m adapting but I’m hoping that, although I’ve only got a short time, I can finish well,” he told the Chelsea website.

“The best thing we can do is qualify for the Champions League and hopefully win the Europa League too. “We’re coming towards the end so it’s about finishing as strongly as possible. The main objective is to finish in the top four so we can play in the Champions League and also to encourage other players to come and play for the club.

“That’s what the squad are hoping for, so that we can add players next season, and to finish the season well and make people happy. “From a personal point of view I want to do as well as I can so I can be here for next season.”
