Hoever Handed Pro Reds Deal

Ki-Jana Hoever has put pen to paper on a new long-term deal with Liverpool and has now turned his attention to more first-team action. The Netherlands youth international made the switch to Merseyside from Ajax last summer and quickly caught the eye of the coaching staff, making his senior debut in the Reds’ FA Cup loss to Wolves in January.

The 17-year-old has spent pre-season training with the first team, featuring in all six friendly matches so far, and the club clearly feels he has a bright future after handing him his first professional contract. Having secured his long-term future at Anfield, Hoever hopes to continue his progression as he looks to be handed more opportunities in Jurgen Klopp’s first-team this season.

Hoever told Liverpoolfc.com: “I’m really happy to have signed here. “I need to be realistic. I hope to make some minutes in the first team this year, of course, but I know that I will probably play more games for the U23s. I will just train hard with the first team, show them what I can do and if there is a chance, I will be ready. That’s what I am hoping for. “I still need to learn a lot of things. I am still 17, so I just need to keep doing what I am doing to get better at the things that can be better.”
