Watford are the latest club to be linked with a January swoop for RB Leipzig defensive midfielder Diego Demme. The 26-year-old has been with Die Bullen since 2013 but was recently mentioned in connection with West Ham United.
Capped once by Germany, the former SC Paderborn ace has started all 10 of Leipzig’s Bundesliga games this season and contributed to the side’s solid start.
They sit fourth in the standings with 19 points, just five behind table-topping Borussia Dortmund, and Demme seems a permanent fixture in Ralf Rangnick’s rearguard.
However, it remains to be seen if they can keep hold of him in January, with Calciomercato now reporting the Hornets will ‘move’ for the player in the new year.
He is said to be a ‘goal’ of both Watford and the Hammers but whether or not the German club would be willing to let him leave mid-season is open to debate – especially if they are pushing for a Champions League spot.
