Howe Hails Cherries Wideman

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has hailed the efforts of David Brooks after he shone in his first season at the club.

Brooks, 21, only signed from Sheffield United last summer but has made himself a regular first-team player, with his exciting displays netting him seven goals and providing five assists.

He was also one of the contenders for the PFA’s Young Player of the Year award, won by Raheem Sterling, but his success has come at a price as he has been on the end of some hefty challenges and Howe says he has done well to cope with that side of the game. “He has dealt with it really well,” he told the Echo.

“I don’t see it being an issue.”Every time he has been kicked, he has got back up again and showed a great attitude to the game. “I don’t think it has ever affected his mentality to the game at all.

“If you are putting yourself in a position to beat defenders and to create, naturally, you have to expect the physical side to come out but then seeing it as a compliment is the best way to look at it.

Get up and do it again.”
