Howe Reveals Solanke Injury

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has revealed Dominic Solanke was forced to play with a hamstring injury during the draw with Southampton.

The former Liverpool forward entered the game in the 72nd minute as he replaced right-back Nathaniel Clyne.

Solanke then felt a twinge in his hamstring during Saturday’s entertaining 3-3 draw at St Mary’s but Howe had already made all three subs.

Howe has praised the England international for playing through the pain barrier but he could now be set for a spell on the sidelines.

He told the Daily Echo: “Dom was hobbling at the end. I don’t think it was necessarily a (hamstring) pull but there was an ache there which probably says there was a slight strain in the muscle. “I don’t think he did any more damage by staying on.

The team needed him to do it – it was too important at that stage to take him off.

It was good signs from him mentally that he was able to do that and prepared to do it for the team.” Howe also lost Dan Gosling to a calf injury in the second half and the duo are set to be assessed before the Cherries face Tottenham on Saturday.
