Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe will hand Jefferson Lerma and Diego Rico their debuts during Tuesday’s EFL Cup clash with MK Dons. The Cherries coach is hoping to use the clash against the League Two outfit as a chance to ease his summer recruits into action.
Lerma, a £25million club record signing has been improving his fitness and was an unused sub during the 2-2 draw with Everton on Saturday.
Lewis Cook and veteran striker Jermain Defoe are also in the running for starts but Junior Stanislas and Kyle Taylor are out injured.
Rico has had to wait for his three-match ban to expire and Howe does not expect the Spaniard to struggle with the language barrier.
He told the Bournemouth Echo: “We will certainly help him. We have had a translator with him and he is picking up the basics that we need him to.
“I don’t think it will be a long transition, he seems quite bright in picking up what he needs to know.
“On the pitch, there is only one language and that’s football so he will be fine in that respect.”
