Howell Injury Blow For Gloucestershire

All-rounder Benny Howell has been ruled out for the rest of Gloucestershire’s 2019 campaign after suffering a hamstring injury.

The 30-year-old former Hampshire right-armer picked up the problem during his side’s T20 Blast win against Surrey at The Oval on Friday.

A scan on Howell’s hamstring has shown that he will not recover in time to feature in the final month of the season.

The news will be a blow to Gloucestershire given that Howell showed his capabilities with the ball when he claimed career-best figures of 5-18 against Glamorgan at Cheltenham in their opening T20 Blast game of this summer on July 19, before it was abandoned due to rain.

Howell joins Stuart Whittingham, Matt Taylor, Harry Hankins and Will Travare on the sidelines at the Bristol County Ground.
