Southampton boss Mark Hughes says midfielder Mario Lemina is in contention to take on Newcastle United this weekend. Lemina was thought to be a doubt ahead of the weekend, with the former Juventus man struggling with a knee injury.

The Gabon international was forced off early during the draw with Bournemouth last Saturday after he landed awkwardly.
However, Lemina has been training well this week and Hughes insists he could still feature in the match at St Mary’s.
“We’re okay, Mario Lemina came off against Bournemouth and was sore early in the week. But we’re pleased as it doesn’t look like he’s sustained any significant damage,” Hughes told the club’s official website.
“It was jarring of the knee and a bit of hyper-extension. But it looks like he’ll be fit as long as he doesn’t have any reaction to the work we’ve done today. Other than him, we have nobody unavailable.”
