Hughes Taking Inspiration From Trio

Hughes Taking Inspiration From Trio

Sam Hughes is taking inspiration from Ben Chilwell, Hamza Choudhury and Harvey Barnes as he plots a route to Leicester’s first team.

The defender joined the Foxes from non-league outfit Chester in the summer of 2017 but is yet to make a senior appearance.

He was heavily involved with the Under-23s last season, scoring seven times in 19 appearances, but a niggling back injury has restricted him to just one outing in 2018-19.

Hughes is “praying” that his injury issues are in the past and hopes to follow fellow youngsters Chilwell, Choudhury and Barnes from Under-23s to the first team.

When asked by LCFC TV about the trio, Hughes said: “It only give us motivation, all three of them are top players.

If you look at what Barnsey’s done at West Brom, what he’s doing now here, how Hamza’s progressed into the first team, deservedly, and Ben Chilwell, who’s obviously been around the first team a long time.

“It only gives you motivation and hope to replicate exactly what they’re doing.

There may only be a few of us but providing you give it your all and you work as hard as you possibly can, you give yourself the best chance of being involved in it.”
