Hughton Issues Seagulls Warning

Chris Hughton has warned his Brighton side not to get “carried away” after they returned to the road towards Premier League safety.

The Seagulls head to rivals Crystal Palace on Saturday having delivered a first win in eight league games by beating bottom club Huddersfield.

However, with the gap to the relegation zone standing at only five points, Hughton knows there can be no complacency during the closing stages of the season.

“The fact is we have gone through a difficult spell, (but) overall we have done OK,” the Brighton boss said. “During difficult periods when you look at the opposition you are against, you have to be mindful of where we have been, and that this is only our second season (in the Premier League).

“Certainly we should not get carried away. Our form has not been as good as we would have liked of late, but I was delighted with last weekend.”

Hughton continued at a press conference: “A club like ours in this division will always have tough periods. “You have to work with the players on and off the field, but ultimately the further away you are from the bottom three, the better the feeling.”
