Hughton Keen On Cup Run

Chris Hughton has revealed that he would like to progress far in the FA Cup after Brighton’s third round 3-1 win at Bournemouth. The Seagulls chief opted to make eight changes for Saturday’s game at the Vitality Stadium, but his fringe men impressed as goals from Anthony Knockaert, Yves Bissouma and Florin Andone wrapped up an impressive victory against their south coast rivals.

Despite opting to make wholesale changes to his starting XI, Hughton is adamant that he is taking the cup seriously this season given that his side currently sits a healthy 10 points clear of the Premier League’s relegation places. “I still think it’s a great competition, it’s very important to us and that’s why I’m so delighted we were able to make changes and still win,” the manager told reporters. “No disrespect to anyone, but I hope we get a home draw, and against a team that’s not in the Premier League!”
