Veteran midfielder Manuel Iturra has joined La Liga outfit Villarreal as a free agent. The 34-year-old former Chile international has plenty of experience in Spain, enjoying spells with Granada and Rayo Vallecano, while he also spent the second half of last season with Malaga after departing Mexican club Necaxa in January.
Iturra departed Malaga this summer when he failed to help keep the club in the Spanish top flight and will link up with Villarreal with immediate effect.
Confirming the arrival of Iturra on their website, Villarreal said in a statement: “He has great ability to win the ball back before finding a team-mate. He knows how to interpret the game perfectly.”
